Величина целевого числа, с которым сравнивается хеш, в системе Биткойн корректируется через каждые 2016 блоков таким образом, чтобы вся сеть на поиск нового блока тратила в среднем 10 минут. Если очередные 2016 блоков сформированы быстрее минут, то целевое число немного уменьшается и получить удовлетворяющий ему хеш подбором параметра nonce становится труднее; если медленнее – целевое число увеличивается.

Когда вариант найден, узел рассылает полученный блок другим подключённым узлам, которые проверяют блок. Если ошибок нет, то блок считается добавленным в цепочку и следующий блок должен включить в себя его хеш12. Основной принцип работы блокчейна заключается в том, что информация сохраняется в виде последовательного списка блоков, каждый из которых содержит данные о предыдущем блоке. Это обеспечивает целостность и невозможность изменения уже сохраненных данных без согласия большинства участников сети.
